Sizing and operation co‐optimization strategy for flexible traction power supply system

Dispatchable energy storage system (ESS) plays a critical role in the smart grid through shift and power support. However, it exhibits different operational strategies economic benefits application scenarios due to its inherent degradation behaviour. This paper aims explore technical feasibility of flexible traction supply (FTPSS) integrating ESS renewable sources (RES) based on load characteristics. First, battery model applicable frequent charging discharging operating conditions is derived. Then this develops an operational-sizing co-optimization framework for FTPSS, where operation decisions are made considering costs varying with sizes throughput. To solve large-scale non-linear intertemporal decision-making problem, iterative method linear programming (LP) core proposed achieve trade-off between computational efficiency accuracy. The results extensive comparative cases show that approach can approximately 10% higher than existing bi-level sizing FTPSS.
